Fasa county to hold largest Ta'zieh performance in Iran

Fasa county is to host largest Ta'zieh performance in Iran as a tribute to Imam Hussein (AS).

Fasa county is to host largest Ta'zieh performance in Iran as a tribute to Imam Hussein (AS) and his 72 faithful companions.

The Persian passion play in Iranian province of Fars, to be held in a large field later on Friday, reenacts the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in the desert of Karbala.

“The performance will be held in a 2-hectare field … in Fasa county with 250 actors,” a Fars Province official with Iran Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance told local media.

Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his loyal companions, including his family members, were martyred on Ashura, the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram, in the battle of Karbala against the second Umayyad caliph, Yazid I, in 680 AD.
